For this session we will be discussing the documentary, Embodied (2024, 68 min)

Watch Options: Plex, Prime Video, Roku, Tubi, Apple TV+, Pluto

The documentary addresses the urgency of recognizing weight stigma and the statistics on BMI, obesity, and associated prejudices that come along with it. Through the personal journeys of its protagonists, Embodied sheds light on the multifaceted challenges individuals face in navigating a world that often judges based on appearance.

Following the stories of five individuals combating weight stigma in various facets of their lives, Embodied offers a poignant glimpse into the complexities of living with societal judgment. From a drag queen using humor to dismantle stereotypes to a CEO advocating for inclusivity, each narrative offers a personal lens into the sensationalized topic of fatness and gives the audience a glimpse of how these five individuals live full and authentic lives.

In doing so, the documentary challenges viewers to reevaluate preconceived notions of body image and worth.
